Untitle Story 1 - April 1st, 2024
I told my parents that I finally just launched my website and I would start writing blogs a week ago. Today, as I logged into my website platform, I was met with an unexpected sight: my first email subscriber. To my amazement and disbelief, it turned out to be none other than my dad.
Tears streamed down my face as I grappled with the overwhelming rush of emotions. I'm not usually one to shed tears easily, but this moment was different: my dad doesn’t even speak English and he wouldn’t be able to understand what I wrote. The one subscription from him meant the world to me: it was an affirmation of his unconditional love and silent encouragement.
In that instant, memories flooded my mind — moments of growing up, moments of struggle, moments of triumph. And through it all, my parents had been there, silently cheering me on from afar. My mom's words from our last conversation echoed in my ears, revealing the lengths to which my parents was willing to go, just to connect with my world. My mom said that whenever I wrote a new blog, made sure to send the link to them and dad would use Google Translate to read what I shared.
Adulting life is difficult and growing up far away from my parents since the age of 18 while figuring out life by myself has been anything but easy. My parent’s unconditional love and support was the main reasons where I’m today and who I’m today.
As I sit here, still wiping away tears, I am overcome with a profound sense of gratitude.. I wanted to write this story down so that I could always remind myself that even when I thought no one care, there are at least 2 people in this world who truly care about me.
